Best of Kids My Shot

Though it might be hard to tell, these photographs all have something in common: each was taken by a photographer under the age of 18.

Let me explain: for those of you who know and love National Geographic’s Your Shot, I am not sure how many people know that we also have a photo community for our younger photographers- Kid’s My Shot.

My Shot is free and open to children 6-18 years old. Photos can be featured in their Photo of the Day or special galleries, and right now kids can submit to the annual International Photography Contest as well. They also have great tip videos for kids, but I think adults could learn a lot from them as well!

This month we are thrilled to be running a Your Shot assignment, The World Next Door, to encourage parents and children to photograph together. You can participate in different ways on Your Shot and My Shot. We can’t wait to see what you come up with!

You may have noticed the two faceless portraits, above. Kids My Shot has most of the same rules as Your Shot with one exception- you can’t post photos with kids faces. It is great to see people use that rule as a tool to get creative! Visit the My Shot FAQ and explore their tip videos to learn more.
